Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the most common questions on set.
The PIN is not accepted.
Check the PIN for typos (six digits) and make sure there is internet – signing in itself briefly needs a connection. If access is still denied, it is probably disabled for the project: contact the project lead.
The QR code will not scan.
Allow camera permission for FilmApp or the browser. Alternatively, type in the PIN shown below the QR code.
Images or videos will not load.
Check the connection and tap the sync icon at the bottom of the overview. The app loads all content automatically – opening it once with a connection is enough, after that it is available offline → Offline playback.
The scene does not react to tapping or swiping.
Gestures are defined per scene – there may simply be none at this point. Check the flow info (info icon in the overview) or restart the scene via the top-right area.
How do I get out of a running scene?
Tap the invisible strip at the very top left – back to the scene overview. Top right restarts the scene → On-set controls.
A phone does not appear in remote control.
Check three things: the phone is signed into the same project, is on the same Wi-Fi, and FilmApp is open (not locked, not in the background). Some hotel and guest networks keep devices apart by design – use a hotspot in that case → Remote control.
Remote control shows “Disconnected” or “Reconnecting”.
The controlled phone is currently unreachable – usually because the screen is locked, another app is in front, or it is too far away. Unlock the phone and bring FilmApp back to the foreground; the connection restores itself.
There is no Wi-Fi at the location.
Turn on the personal hotspot on one phone and connect the others to it. Whether the hotspot has internet does not matter – remote control runs purely locally → Remote control.
Browser bars are visible in the shot.
Tap the centre of the top edge or use the full-screen icon in the overview. The app always runs full screen.
A change made on set does not reach the team.
Changes saved offline are only transferred at the next online contact. Get a connection and check the sync status at the bottom of the overview.
The screen turns black during a call.
Intended: like a real phone, the app switches the display off as soon as the device is held to the ear (proximity sensor).
The phone does not vibrate on a call.
The vibration alert only works if vibration is also enabled in the phone’s settings. Check there (iPhone: Settings → Sounds & Haptics; Android: Settings → Sound & vibration) and mind the device’s silent mode.
How is the app updated?
iPhone: update via TestFlight. Android: install the new APK over the existing app. In the browser, reloading is enough.
Who helps with further questions?
The first point of contact is the production’s project lead. Technical questions: info@timschoendorfer.de.
